Short Shorts

Sorry about missing yesterday, my health seems to be bouncing like a yo-yo. But, we'll try something now. I am eventually going to throw my 2 cents in on what you guys have been discussing, but need to wait until I can concentrate fully on what has been written. So, to the issues we go.

Thank God for Video Tape

We finally learned a couple of things yesterday. First, Boosh does have some technology in Crawford, probably a TV and obviously the ability to hold video conferences. This moron almost leaves me at a loss for words, but not quite. After seeing the "day before" briefing on the Katrina situation, including the update from the world's foremost hurricane forecaster, we can now put to bed the ridiculous claim that Boosh nor anyone else in power considered the possibility that the levees could break or be overrun. The White House reaction to the video? "This is old news." Well, maybe so. It has been out there a while, but no one had seen it. So I'm not sure if that makes it "old news" or not, but in my view, only one word can describe it. Priceless. It looks like "heckuva job Brownie" may have been the only one doing their job during this fiasco. Certainly Chertoff and Boosh were clueless. The incompetence abounds, and it is starting to catch on with more than just us tree hugging liberals. Interesting.

How Low Can They Go?

We are reaching unchartered waters in poll numbers. The Boosh approval rating is currently at 29% according to one poll, mid 30's in others. The Republicans don't know what to do, but at least they are waking up to the steady stream of failures of this administration. They now realize that Booshco cares about no one, including their base and constituency. Cheney is at 19%. My guess is that 15% of those are family members. If Boosh is given another year, (not gonna happen) they'll both be in single digits. Would love to see it, but would much rather see him deposed long before then.

Credit Where Credit Is Due

The Mainstream Media has taken a pounding over the last few years, but now it's time to give them some credit. Especially those who are on the White House beat. They have pounded away at Scottie-boy McClellan for quite some time now, and I believe that their efforts have led to the awakening of the Democratic members of Congress. I think that the Democrats lack of action, along with the perpetual stonewalling by the Booshies, in a way hamstrung the media. Now the media has hammered away until the country as a whole has begun to come out of their slumber and realize that we have a madman in charge. I also believe that the Bloggers deserve a lot of credit, addressing issues that the mainstremers wouldn't touch. Sure, there are still a lot of things that the MSM won't report, but they are making more of an effort. Unfortunately, the things they won't touch are the "real problems," the impending financial obliteration, among other things. But, they are getting better on some important issues. The problem is, it's too late to save this place. The Democrats have waited too long, the media have waited too long, the American people have waited too long to stop the end of America as we know it. Too bad, but we get what we deserve. This train is not returning to the tracks, to believe otherwise is being naive and foolish.

$7 Billion Down the Tubes; An Honest Mistake?

We now learn that a tax that was supposed to kick in when oil reached a certain level was mysteriously left out of a congressional bill. The price? $7 Billion. Who gains from this? Who else, Big Oil. An honest mistake? Yeah, sure. What's $7 Billion anyway? Just 6 weeks pissed away in Iraq, or a great start to the rebuilding of the Gulf Coast. Now, for an unknown amount of time, the Big Oil boys will continue to operate essentially tax free on oil obtained from the Gulf of Mexico. Well, at least it goes to the "needy."

My State

My state's Governor, a former Boosh administration official, is using the Boosh model of government to "help us." Sounds a whole lot like the port deal to me. We are about to "lease" a toll road to a foreign company for $3.85 Billion. At least the deal has an end date, 75 years from now. Yes, you heard me right. 75 years. But, while the company get's all the profits and get to name the price for the use of our roads, they are also responsible for maintenence. The people, especially the people who live around the toll road are up in arms. They correctly foresee the tolls going through the roof, truckers driving through their neighborhoods instead of paying the tolls, and their roads being destroyed. This international company is not responsible for maintaining city streets, so all of that money will come from local economies. The $3.85 Billion is already earmarked for other things, like building a highway to nowhere. Our legislature, controlled totally by Republicans, will give their approval for the deal today. They will also give approval allowing the Governor to make the same type of deals in the future. Again, we get what we deserve when we put these morons in office. I would just like to know how quickly this company is going to fix potholes on the toll road 15 years from now. Or, what happens when they declare bankruptcy in Argentina a few years from now. This has disaster written all over it. I think it's nearing time to have "open season" on Republicans, if you know what I mean. Tax money could be made from the sale of licenses, the population would reduce itself...............

Bring on the Crash, It's our Only Hope to Survive.

Cyclone,

Lets see if I got this right. the government wants foreign companies to load and unload freight at our ports, state governments want to turn over operation of our toll roads, the feds want to sell off public lands to foreign investors, and the feds want to sell mineral rights on state land. Course we been allowing Japenese logging companies, for a long time now, to log our forests, take the wood offshore and process it then sell it back to us, meanwhile polluting off shore areas with the scraps.

Christ, if I could figure out a place that would be better when the crash comes I would be gone. Maybe we all ought to sign up for Berlitz courses in Japanese or Chinese. Come to think about it, Mandrin would be best. Need to pick the biggest and baddest to side with for survival.

I honestly don't believe this shit!!

When the crash comes The USA will still have an administration but it won’t own anything to administrate over. It will just be like the United Nations of America.

Murph,

Yep, that's how it seems. The problem with Chinese is which dialect to choose, but Mandarin is probably as good as any. I misspoke about the toll road. It's actually a combination Australia/Spanish consortium, not Argentinian. I'm sure they'll rush right over to fix our roads. The Gov claims it will create "thousands" of jobs. What are we gonna do? Put toll booths in every mile? We're only talking about approximately 160 miles, but the key to it is the ability to give away, er, "lease" roads in the future. We're toast.

My Belgian friend,

Yes, there will be nothing left but a bunch of pissed off Americans, or ex-Pats. As for the Indian nuclear thing, it's in the works. Thanks for the suggestion,

Anonymous,

I forgot. You made a good point, but I don't know if that is only in Texas, on that particular ranch, or what. We need it to be nationwide, and not a fenced hunt.

Perhaps you saw this little tidbit already:

http://www.shns.com/shns/g_index2.cfm?action=detail&pk=RAISEALARM-02-28-06

Having opened a bank account or two recently, I already know about the new DHS requirements, but not this kind of monitoring. I wonder what the "stop payment" kind of scrutiny achieves besides making all of us wary.

As for Chinese, if you really want to take this on by yourself, get the Pimsleur course on Mandarin. It is far and away the best audio-only offering and Putonghua (Mandarin) is the official language of China, so forget the rest.

Cyclone,
My God! Leasing the HIGHWAY for 3.85 million?? On top of the Supreme Court ruling that it's OK to take people's homes for private land development, selling off the rights to public lands... the outrages just go on and on! I agree that the collapse is looking like our only hope of getting our country back eventually. If the pinhead fundamentalists didn't take the Bible so literally, they would recognize the "30 pieces of silver" story as an allegory for selling out all that we hold sacred. I can't take much more of this.
Paranthetically, have you noticed how expensive sugar is becoming? Apparently, it is being used for bio-fuel, so will become a scarce and expensive commodity. I think it will become a good thing to have for bartering. I'm going to stock up, while we still can. In the future, we could probably buy meat with a box of Nestle's Quick...or maybe use it to get on your toll road.

I listened to a discussion on CBC radio a few weeks ago, most of the mix were Americans, pro and con. Including individuals from both the industry and US government. To boil down the 60 min discussion--at least to my ears--the long and the short of it was/is BIG sugar is REALLY BIG and the collusion taking place between the US power structure and big sugar is a truly an accurate and damming measure of how the overall horrible state in which the US finds itself (economically) today has come about. (Of course many other things are causal as well). One fact that came out was that at that point in time the US consumer was paying twice the price in comparison to the world average price for sugar. This is set in collusion between big sugar and the BIG US government.

I'm hoarding sugar in 25 lb. bags. In a survival scenario, it can easily be converted to alky, which I believe is called creating a "value added" product that can be bartered/sold for a lot more than what the sugar would bring.

I think there are trying to rush all these sales of our ports, roads and land, because they know that they will be out of office after this years elections (If we actually have them).

Watching TV last night I caught a glimpse of Nightline (I think) and the reporter was saying that Bush was in dander and that he was SO brave, because he was so close to where Osama Binladin is supposed to be hiding. He further stated that Bush was facing down Osama by being there. What a crock if shit! That guy should get the bullshit of the year award for televised news! I so sick of all this government propaganda. I just have to find a new country to move to. Easier said than done though!

Cyclone,

I like the idea Anonymous came up with for the Republican Hunt! Sounds like something I could get into! Wonder what we should do with them afterwards? That's some gamey-ass meat there! Still, if you parboil it right and change the water three times, you can still barbecue it if you used LOTS of sauce!

I'm a pretty good shot still. I could probably bring three or four down clean, and wing a few more enough to slow them down real good! Rockpicker and Oldensoul will be there of course! Never heard of a Montana man that would give up the chance to shoot something! I know Montana Freeman will want a shot at the repugs. Wonder if hollow points wil be legal ammo? I hate anything to suffer, even a Republican!

Freacre,

Sounds like a good idea! I'm sure the thought of heaving a five-pound bag of sugar at a tool booth operator is a thought that warms Cyclone's heart!

Stoney,

I am reasonably sure the repugs you want to shoot at are going to have body armor on. They probably shower in it. But this means your going to have to have around 2000 ft/sec to penetrate, maybe a bit less depending on type of bullet.

Friend and I were speculating on what it would take to silence a 50 cal. Maybe 2 50 gal. drums welded together? Three mile pie plate accuracy ain't too bad if you could quiet it down some. lol. Happy hunting.

I truely hope that you guys realized I was joking there.....

Wouldn't worry much about using Sugar for Bio-Fuels. It appears that the only Bio being supported is Coal sprayed with Pine nectar (bio-fuel???).

As far as body armor is concerned, maybe we can get them to wear the stuff that they gave our enlistees. Even with theirs, though, you can use a .17ppc with hardened polys for the trick. "This information is for educational purposes only..."

If Cheney can get off a head shot at thirty yards, I should be able to get one in at a hundred! I've been working with the sights on my old SKS and have it pretty close! Besides, down here I can still by old Russian armor -piercing 7.62X39 ammo for $5.00 for a box of 25! Pretty cheap! And it will go through a lot of different types of body armor. I don't know what type the Repugs are wearing this year, but I bet it's better than what they are giving our soldiers in Iraq! Mybee we should just skip the firearms, run 'em down and beat 'em with clubs

Freeacre,

That's $3.85 Billion, but still not enough. Reminds me of the idiots in Wichita that let someone sell them an inflatable dam. Worked great, for one day. Then every kid in Wichita took their pellet guns and .22's out and blew holes in the thing. The guy that sold it to them is on a beach somewhere, sipping cocktails and laughing his ass off. Same thing here. Doesn't matter though, we won't make it to the 2nd payment anyway.

You can always come to Europe for your barby then if you think it has some attractions you needn't go back. If you decide on Belgium though I have to tell you that the 'system' was invented by Napoleon and no amount of European directives has changed it yet.

One thing I have learned in all my years is that wherever you are there is always something.
