Does Anything Ever Really Change?

I have been gone for a while, mainly because I haven’t had much to say. Actually, I’ve had a lot to say but haven’t really known how to say it. I haven’t known how to say it because this world has gone totally nuts, and I’m not sure what more can be said but that. Anyway, here I am again.

This post is going to be a little different. I am going to begin with many quotes, from sources that will not be named, yet anyway. These quotes will have a central theme, are paraphrased when necessary, and are in no real particular order. Then we will talk about it, and I’ll explain where some of them came from. Many I will not be able to tie to a specific person, simply because I don’t know who some of these people are. Many are from the “man on the street.” But, where possible, I will eventually give credit where credit is due.

The Quotes

“We don’t care what the American people say, what Congress says, or what other oversight organizations say.”

(On democratizing the world) “We’re going to do it and we don’t care who gets killed in the process.”

“This is not how the Constitution was set up, not what the Founding Fathers intended. When you start by breaking foreign laws and overthrowing foreign governments, sovereign or not, you then find yourself breaking laws at home.”

“Sometimes you must be willing to go above and beyond the written law.”

“Some people are obviously willing to put the Constitution at risk because they believed there was a ‘higher order thing.’”

“We have liberty and the only way to keep it is to have strong leaders.”

“If we continue to rob ourselves to feed this security monster we are going to continue to degrade American life.”

“After all, we are only talking about upholding the Constitution.”

“A government in shadows, a secret government, will only occur if the people let it happen.”

“Abuse of power is simply a breach of faith.”

“We’ll never know the truth. I think it’s been happening all along only this time they got caught.”

“This has been a wholesale policy of lies, total fiction and deception.”

“To maintain military and moral prestige, we must be tough on terrorists.”

“America will never make concessions to terrorists.”

“What we have done does nothing but undercut our allies and the American people.”

“The Constitution states that the President shall take care that laws are faithfully executed.”

“The President has the right to act unilaterally. This is government speak for acting without Congressional consent or knowledge.”

“I see nothing wrong with creating forces to overthrow legal foreign governments, including democratic ones.”

“The President uses this as a way to keep war going despite Congress, public opinion, and the law.”

“To get around the law, you need a group of companies willing to set up private funding and a group of advisors to take control of policy.”

“…….a shadowy government with its own air force, its own navy, its own fundraising, with its own ideas of national interest free from checks and balances and most importantly, free from the law itself.”

“Its leaders are a creation of the US government, they are not first rate people but liars, motivated by power and greed. This war is a business to many of them.”

“This secret government has utter contempt for Congress, makes profits by shaking down foreign governments. It’s done in the dark of night because it can’t stand the light of day. There is no watchman at the door, no accountant to check the books, no judge to check the law. Secrecy is the freedom zealot’s dream of, a government without a constitution; the rules it follows are the rules it makes up.”

“This is an off the shelf, stand alone entity necessary to protect the United States.”

“These people are willing to put the Constitution at risk because they believe in a higher order; the ends are justified by the means. It’s the most Marxist, totalitarian doctrine I’ve ever heard of. When you hide things from the American people with no accountability, you’ve accomplished what Madison and others struggled with while putting the Constitution together, which was to prevent runaway power. They did not intend for power to be concentrated in one hand where one person runs off and makes a decision against the will of the American people.”

“We cannot abide with having terrorists run free in North America.”

“The terrorists know exactly what we are doing; the only people fooled are the American people.”

“How can people judge what they do not know or were lied to when they were told?”

“Politicians used to be bureaucrats. Now they are thrown in with slick used car salesmen and lawyers. Now everyone only talks about them as liars.”

“We don’t realize how close we are to surrendering popular control of government to the national security state. We’ve never come closer to bestowing absolute authority on the President,……”

“The men who wrote the Constitution tried to make it difficult for us to go to war because human life was at stake and national standing was involved. War should be soberly decided, publicly debated, and mutually determined by the peoples’ representatives. It is the people who must fight, pay and die once the choice is made. The Constitution wants to protect them from dying for the wrong reasons and from killing for the wrong reasons.”

And finally,

“We’ve turned war powers over to those we never know who or what they are really doing, what it costs, or who is paying for it. We are sure that this global war carried on with less and less accountability to our democratic institutions has become a way of life. Now we are pressed with a question never before faced: Can we have a permanent warfare state and democracy too?”

As I was doing this, I realized that I have four more hand written pages of quotes to use, but they are all along the same lines so I will stop now. Actually, I think I will use one more, from a war veteran.

“I think the country has finally learned very graphically that we must be sure if we are going to send our young people off to die like this it had better really be in the interest of every person in the United States before we make that sacrifice. We ask a lot of questions now that we didn’t use to ask, we want to know why, just what we are really involving ourselves in when we go to do that.”

What Exactly Is Your Point, Cyclone?

The above quotes came from various characters. They include; the “man or woman on the street,” war veterans, the despicable Oliver North, several Senators and Congressmen including John Kerry, law professors, one journalist, Bill Moyers, who produced the film that the majority of this information came from, practicing attorneys and various legal scholars. Kudos to you, Mr. Moyers, this is your work. And fabulous work it is. It has blown me away.

I find this a pretty accurate look at what can happen to a country that does what we have done, that being to give unfettered power to wage war to one man based on lies, deception, and by allowing him to use fear as a weapon against the American people.

But, that is not what is most interesting about this, to me at least. You see, this film was produced in the mid 1980’s, as a direct response to the Iran/Contra scandal. It was sent to me by a regular reader of the Real Deal, and for which I am forever grateful. The film includes other time frames as well, from WWII, which incidentally was the last war actually declared by Congress, up through the Viet Nam war. Its main focus and impetus though, was the Iran/Contra affair. That is what they were saying THEN. If that is the case, what should we be saying NOW?

These days everything comes full circle, but one thing seems to be consistent. That is that lies eventually catch up with administrations, with the Republicans lies generally resulting in wars. A thing that surprised me was that the fear of us being involved in “perpetual war” was there well over 20 years ago, and was actually recognized and pointed out at the time. Unfortunately, I had forgotten more about Iran/Contra than I remembered. I was “busy” during that period of my life, being a degenerate living on the beach. I remember watching the hearings, hating the arrogant, repulsive Oliver North and Ronald Reagan, but few of the specifics. Perhaps some of you recall this period better than I do, or have already seen this film. If so, this probably won’t have the same meaning or impact as it has had on me.

Another thing that strikes me is something that I hadn’t really noticed before, perhaps because of my age. It appears that the American people have essentially had their heads in the sand for a heckuva lot longer than I imagined. I found most interesting that the last quote I posted came from a Viet Nam veteran. Stating that he thought we had, as a people, finally began asking the hard questions before sending people to war.

Have we? Though that may have been the case in the immediate aftermath of that conflict, it didn’t take long for business as usual to become the rule of the day at the time. It looks like the same routine to me today, a fear based somber tale by a dimwit President telling us how we are in grave danger. The only real difference is that now it is a “war on terror” when then it was a “war on communism.” And, of course, it is all full of lies with the “ends justifying the means” being the operative words, as John Kerry mentioned above.

Now, I feel the need to get philosophical for a moment. (I'm getting soft in my old age)I think that more than anything this exercise has taught me one thing, and that is this. There are some of us who have a passion, a need, a calling if you will to be the watchmen for others. It is our job to see outside the box, to point out what might be coming down the road to those who won’t, or can’t, look for themselves. It is something that we MUST do, we simply can’t help ourselves. We have to know, and we have to tell. I consider the majority of us to be a part of that "watchmen" group, not just those of us who write here. But, to expect any positive results to come from our actions or to have a great revelation or any action occur among the masses is nothing more than a pipe dream. It just ain’t gonna happen. That is humbling, and at the same time relieving.

It is also not all bad, as we have somehow found each other. We have a growing group who really do give a damn what happens to this place called America, and this place called Mother Earth. Unlike Boosh, we are not alone on an island, we are instead communicating daily with many people of like mind. We are tossing out ideas for the good of others, though in the end they will likely only result in good for ourselves. But good nonetheless. So maybe our focus should be mainly on those already at our own council fire, and those that we will welcome to this place in the near future. Maybe it always has been this way and I just didn’t realize it. Others will come, one at a time or ten, but it matters not. They will be welcomed with warmth, common sense, and if they seek it, a kind community genuinely asking for their input and ideas.

My reality has changed and I have grown some over the last month or so, for the better I think. Before what we all know will happen does happen, we should perhaps think about finding a place to hole up together and protect one another from what will likely be a hellish period for those who manage to survive the crash or war, whichever arrives first. I remember thinking from a self induced Oklahoma haze back in the 60’s that I wanted to see what it would be like to live in a commune. It may be nearing time to make that dream a reality.

Cy,

And by the way, what was the name of the movie Moyers put out? You never said.

Yup, it's "deja vu all over again." Bill Moyers, in fact, just came out with another block-busting speech and video about the crisis in the media and the government that sounds like a continuation of his take on Iran/Contra. What kills me is that the very same motherfuckers who were in charge then (Chaney, Rumsfeld, Bush) are STILL THERE and still doing the same shit!! And, I'm still here hating their guts. Even Baker and Kissinger are back - like zombies that won't die. Christ, what is next - some Nixon clone/cyborg babies- maybe the one that Chaney's daughter is carrying...to march us into the next century. ARRRUUGH!! When you put it in its historical perspective, I feel worse.
The only light at the end of the tunnel is that it is reaching its physical conclusion because there is not enough oil on the planet to maintain it, and they have polluted the air beyond repair, and allowed all that kept us strong to deteriorate, so it has to collapse. Just has to. I just thought it would have happened a long time ago. Shit, we've known it was out of control since Kennedy and MLK and Bobby were assassinated. As Hunter Thompson called it, it's been a Generation of Swine running the world.
But, meanwhile, those of us having to navigate these treacherous waters and live decent lives and not be taken over by the pod people, have managed to learn a thing or two. We'll see, won't we?

OOPS, I forgot the most important part. It's called,

The Secret Government...The Constitution in Crisis

I highly recommend it to anyone unfamiliar with the details and history of the NSA, the CIA, and Iran/Contra. Sorry.

Indeed you are correct. Moyers covers a bit of Watergate as well as touches on JFK and the mob, Castro, etc in this film. The same scum is around back then. I think Kissinger is in it if I remember correctly. But yes, we have learned. And to me, knowledge is everything.

I've had an inkling to develop an earth friendly subdivision here in Central MO. I'll need some time to develop a "business plan" and see if I can get a bank to sign on. I would think it possible, since Columbia is a haven for tree huggers. Rock on.

It is good to hear from you. I hope you are well. You sound depressed. I guess that's really the only sensible response to the state of the world though.

Freeacre referred to another Moyer film and I'm wondering whether she knows the name of it?

While I don't have a lot of time to spend right now on collaborating for commune plans, I do think the idea is intriguing and I look forward to reading additional thoughts from others. There is so much material available - I will refer folks to lifeaftertheoilcrash.com as a good source. In a year or so I will be more "free" (I'm in school now).

Hell i though my moccasins were wore out! You seem to be in a place that is requiring some serious soul searching brother, it might seem frivolous of me to say that you are in really good company, but you are, those of us that sit at this council fire have i think all had our morality singed, some more some less because if a person is led to the Red Path that is part of a growing awareness that is crowding this fire.
According to the Mayan and Cherokee calendars this time is the time of the ending and the beginning, and those that do not call upon the Great Spirit, Wakan Tanka, and seek guidance from Mother Earth and the various life forms will be dancing with the worms i think.
You have a legitimate concern for sure and you have the ears and hearts of the brothers and sisters that dwell in this sacred place. The things that have been learned will be shared with you and it would be an honor if you share your findings at this fire. And that goes for for all the inhabitants that reside here. we are a cyber tribe, we are related.
THIS might help.

MIWOK: This Indian tribe lived in Central California, making a living by hunting, fishing, gathering of nuts, etc. Their houses were large and cone shaped, and each village contained communal grinding stones upon which the women ground food. They participated in a dance called the KuKsu dance, involving feather headdresses. After the gold rush, they went from 100 villages to None! The genocide of an entire tribe, every man women and child all for the white mans lust for gold. Don't we need to find a different way? What was the matter with trading sea shells?

Thank you Palooka for your brave story.

MF my Brother in Freedom,

For some mysterious reason this lifetime appears to have come to me with the agenda of a haunting curiosity. I tried my damndest to ignore it including gettin drunk for 27 years. But the more I tried the more it led me to its ultimate destiny. Along the way came many questions probing many inequities of human behavior but they all led to the same mystery the solving of which could never be requited without first acknowledging the real possibility of a sinister plot held in place by the very cosmic forces from which sprang a good thing gone bad.

To put it another way, just where the hell did all this evil come from and what can be done about it?

Probe that question openly and one runs the risk of being thrown into the looney bin by well meaning peers along with pioneers who have come before us to brave that question. Little do they know the futility of the threat upon one who has come to understand that we are all already in the looney bin.

So I chant the mantra... let us pull up a blanket together around this fire and open to the idea that we can and must ask hard and controversial questions such as what are the origins of this awful and obvious evil that haunts us and can even appear to have doomed us to execute genicide upon one other and this earth and robed us of our intrinsic right to life and love.

The mission is written in the DNA of our Mayan and Cherokee and Druid elders and lives despite its contamination.

"Every man is his own priest, every woman her own priestess, and the only alter to God or Divinity is the Earth".... michael tsarion

"The forces of evil upon the Earth have power over the Earth and Her peoples equal only to the collective denial of the Divinity of the Human Being."... palooka

Montana & Palooka,
Huh? I couldn't figure out what you were talking about until I went to the previous post's comments and got a clue. Damn. I won't buy stocks cuz I am not a damn capitalist. But, now I am apprised that buying gold is similarly bad. Damn! Then I read about the chemicals, hormones, etc. in food, and toxins of every sort in everything from make-up to computers, to say nothing of military weaponry. etc, etc. It's like unless we go back to a hunting and gathering society (necessitating a tremendous die-off for it to have the remotest chance of success for the remaining 500,000 or so), we are complicit in this evil empire from our first to our last breath.
Then, last night the Murph and I watched "Mosquito Coast," an old movie about a brilliant inventor (Harrision Ford) who is a bitter critic of America and somewhat obsessed with the deterioration of the country, who leaves it for a remote part of South America to live a free life. Dragging his wife and kids along, he becomes more and more isolated and alienated from the major culture and more and more obsessed and narcissistic and eventually paranoid and cruel and outright nuts.
I think this a good cautionary tale about the danger of revolting against the greater culture on one's own without others to maintain a sense of balance. And the others need to be of equal rank, or else you set up some sort of Jim Jones-type cult, or sick family.
For over twenty years I have maintained that "evil" is not a force. That it is just "error." And when people have the knowledge of good, they will do the right thing. Now, I am not so sure. It seems to me that sociopaths run the show, and almost all the things we do are evil even if we don't want them to be that way.
I don't know what I would do without the kindness and humor of this council. More love does, indeed, seem to be the best answer.

Freeacre and Palooka, lots of good stuff to look at,thank you both for appeasing an old Partial, the things of which we speak are so demanding of the kind of attention that one word throws the whole thing in the fire if the ears are hard. This kind of attention use to make me sweat like a teenagers first attempt at getting laid, but now its a little more relaxed and the energy necessary to understand just exactly what it is that we are talking about is of paramount importance, at least to me, because what we are talking about is the fact that we are on the point of extinction, and that is a reality to me, it is not a dream state.
Nothing else on this earth has precedence over that tiny little fact.
i have children and grandchildren and so do we all,and the mother earth we are handing them screams at me through the voices of all that are dying, dead and the soon to be dead.Is this not heard by all?

So our brother Palooka, you Freeacre and all the others that hear this voice of our future are wondering what is the answer?
OK, i don't know.
How ever we must try to find out, goddam it we must, at this point we are the end product of human evolution!! Theres no one else to pull us out of this mother fucking suicide road to hell that we have enjoyed for so long.
OK so where do we start? Right here thats where i think, i am absolutely certain that the finest minds on this planet are in attendance here, the most concerned and the best equipped through what ever it is that brought us to this sacred council.Lets start here, ok? Lets start by actually knowing that we are sacred beings of a spirit that is love, and nothing but love.
Our hearts are of one beating heart and that heart is the heart of the spirit and the heart of the entire universe. Any thing else is nothing.
Without that beginning where can we go?
OK,if we know we are one doesn't that make it really easy? We can even exchange blood from one another, holy shit is that just to much?
So we have a problem, what is it? What is our problem?
Maybe we do not have a problem, maybe we only think we have a problem.
Complicated shit gives me a fucking headache so how about simple for us folks that have an aversion to aspirins.?
And have a propensity to die before reaching a hundred.
We are getting close folks and i look into the eyes of my sixteen year old son and i freak out at where he is going.
God can't we feel each other,?can't we just know that the spirit of love is all around us from the tiniest little thing to the biggest whale that sings in the ocean?
We must come home folks, we must learn to live in our hearts or its all over with. We are going to die along with our children and all our relations, is this not something to be concerned with?
Theres a little bird that comes to the feeder that hangs under the front porch and the feeding tray is large enough that the little bird lays in it and feeds and i wondered why, i thought it was like me ...lazy, but i looked closer and i saw that it only had one good claw, the other one was all shriveled up and useless. And i cried because i thought that we were more then likely responsible for the weathered leg. My heart is bursting folks i don't know what else to do.But we simply must start caring for one another or ....we wont. Can't we just start there and let the rest of things just fall into place,? My heart is so full of love for all of you sacred beautiful people,i wish i could just hug all of you this night.

Cy, I think you sent whatever you bug you had down the information highway to me. I've been sick as a dog for almost three days. I spent all day yesterday in bed.

(warning: rant ahead)
What god***m right does the army have to take over my downtown for their f***ing war games? That's right, you heard me. They arranged with the city to take over the entire downtown area, starting in the middle of the night last night and running until early am Monday morning. The streets are all blocked and you can't go down there without getting arrested. They're testing one of their new vehicles in a "simulated urban warfare environment", sans live ammo. Would someone explain to me exactly how the downtown of my little city is anything like Baghdad? Hello? Stupid, moronic, incompetent, unintelligent little creeps. I wish they'd all go crawl back under the rocks they came out of.
(end of rant)

Good medicine, MF. I feel the changes which you speak of beginning. I can feel what is coming -and it worries me greatly. All we can do is stand strong together and love the Earth as She loves us, despite all that we have done.

Well, ras, I don't think your little town needs to look like Baghdad, I think they are probably practicing for a takeover of Anytown, USA. Do you have many migrant workers there? I just received a message from We the People, the ones who made the documentary, From Freedom to fascism. I pretty much like Aaron Russo, the leader. But the message yesterday brought chills to my spine.
He puts out a good argument for the citizens to sign a petition for a redress of grievances,a right guaranteed by the constitution. And , back it up with withholding our taxes until the rulers address our concerns. All sound well and good.
But, the grievance is the flow of illegal immigrants. Not the ruling class pricks who hire them, but the immigrants themselves. My worst case scenario is that it could lead to a race war, rounding up immigrants (and anybody else they want to get off the streets)into the detention camps. The country could then go into martial law, and the neo-cons would retain and strengthen their strangle hold on the government. Yikes!
That exercise in your little town, ras, could be a hint of things to come, and soon. What do you guys think? I have to admit, I like the idea of a redress of grievances, but it could really backfire in our collective faces.

In the latest issue of Orion magazine, there's an interview with Oren Lyons, a wisdom carrier of the Onandaga. You may view the story online, at www.orionmagazine.org It's a good read.

The interviewer asks Oren, "native elders are often credited with being informed about the environment, or knowledgeable about spiritual issues, but rarely credited with expertise when it comes to governance. Why aren't native elders sought out for their wisdom about a good way to govern, a good way to serve people?"

OL: "Well, to put it simply, our worldview, our perspective, and our process of governance is contrary to private property. Private property is a concept that flies in the face of our understanding of life, and we would say of the reality of life. Private property is a conception, a human conception, which amounts to personal greed."

His ancestors at first laughed at the white man's idea of buying and owning land. But they learned quickly, the white man was not joking.

What would it take to reverse the white man's idiotic reverance for private land ownership?

Major die off? Climatic chaos? Nuclear holocaust? All of the above, I reckon.

When it is apparent to the few of us remaining that we all need each other to ensure any of our survivals, we'll gladly trade rugged independence for the rewards of cooperative effort.

Jim Kunstler has another good article on Alternet this weekend about the coming bad times. (Seems like everywhere you look, people are glooming and dooming.)

Ras, what weapon is the Army testing? My guess is it's the newly unveiled infra-red, Humvee-mounted, 'non-lethal' beam weapon that is designed to disperse crowds by microwaving targets with heat-producing elctromagnetic energy. See if you can find out more on this. My guess is, Freeacre nailed that exercize for the drill it was. Be careful. The weapon needs people to be used against, since it's primary use is for crowd control, so there may be a round -up in progress.

Speaking of Aaron Russo and We The People, we have another tax-resistance stand-off happening, as I write, in New Hampshire. (Think Ruby Ridge and Waco.)
Ed Brown has himself in a fix with the feds, for refusing to file income tax returns and refusing to pay the federal government taxes he doesn't owe on wages he and his wife earned. May the Spirit look down on him and protect them all. He is not alone. The internet is there this time and I'm thinking it will be much more difficult for the ptb to wipe them all out without a lot of bad p.r.

I have read so many weird things lately,my head is spinning. Project Camelot interviews, crop circles, the tsunami caused by a hydrogen bomb dropped by the U.S. Navy, Zetans visiting us from outer space to re-establish the rule of Lord Marduk, (the Antichrist), with the help of Brezinski and Kissinger. Plus the mundane and ever-present threats of world war 111 and world economic collapse. Makes for a short weekend, I'll tell ya.

Seriously, supposedly the test was to gather "sensor data" using some new kind of military vehicle. At least, that's what they told the city and the news media. I thought about sneaking around down there to find out, but I'm just too damned sick.

Of course we have a lot of migrants here, freeacre -everywhere does these days. And speaking of immigrants, has anyone heard of all the crap being done to them these days? Whole families, kids and all, detained IN PRISON, armed robberies and murders where the cops do nothing, and on and on.

But as far as this place goes, I am seriously thinking of buying a spread somewhere else and moving after I finish school.

And MF, this might make you laugh. One of my profs has a mouse problems in her office. She can't get rid of the dang thing. I almost (almost) pointed out to her last week that I think it keeps coming round because it's her spirit guide. At least I think it is. Somehow, I don't think my Western-centric prof would have appreciated that.

You know there has been a lot of sickness and i suppose everyone has heard of the hookups on jet passenger planes that can and do release whatever into the atmosphere. Got this from a plane mechanic that was filling in for another mechanic and discovered the apparatus that had nothing to do with the function of the plane as a system of tanks and pipes and tubing that ended in a carburetor jetlike device,.. he was then discovered by the crew boss or whatever you call them and was sternly told by the boss to get into his part of the plane and to shut the fuck up about everything!!
There are anywhere from 3 to 4 thousand passenger planes in the air at any given time, sweet huh??

Dennis,

Read your post on physics. Interesting reductionism. I agree with your analysis that all science is some form of quantification. I find it interesting that you are able to make the assumption that space and time are real, (not a construct) and that it is some kind of universal constant (unprovable). Looks to me that all basic assumptions concerning the nature of the universe is a belief system and everything else is derived from that.

Hey, here's something we can each do, seperately, or as a group, to help heal our beleagered planet. On July 17, 2007, at 11:11 Greenwich Mean Time, there will be an electro magnetic surge that people all across the earth will use to focus their energies on and send healing vibes into the center of our planet. One hour of your time, in quiet meditation, or maybe in reverent drumming and singing,(who knows), is all it will take. But people all over the earth are going to focus good thoughts of healing and love and communion at a specific point in time, with a specific intent. Sounds cool. I'm in.

From Belgium,

Dude - pleased you liked it.

Hi folks – Back to the point of the post, for me anyway.

I have just finished watching three, one hour long videos from the BBC entitled the Power of Nightmares, which I would recommend.

http://novakeo.com/?p=131

Where as Commanding Heights and The Money Masters dealt with the political fallout of money and economic policy, these dealt with the rise and effects of the purely political situation the world and particularly the USA faces today. It deals with the battle for minds between two major groups; Fundamental Islam and US NeoCons. It is a battle for supremacy between these two groups both of which are selling a bill of goods which both of their respective publics are strenuously rejecting.
It starts with an Egyptian called Kutab(?) who having spent some time in the USA saw, in his view, that materialistic values were isolating individuals and therefore destroying the cohesiveness of society and moreover that these values were infiltrating the Arab world. He led the plot which led to the assassination of Sedat who he saw as embracing US values and fragmenting the people. He was eventually executed but his young protégé Zawahiri continued the struggle through the CIA invention Al Qaeda. The Muslim world rejected this stance because a Koran based theocracy would lead to a draconian society and eliminate democracy. Zawahiri’s view was that his group was the true followers of Allah. Anyone not agreeing with them was therefore not true Muslims and therefore became legitimate targets.
Meanwhile in The USA the reclusive economist and philosopher, Straus also wanted a cohesive society but his way was to achieve it through presenting the population with a series of illusionary threats, initially the Cold War and then the war on terror. When Russia crumbled from within, both the NeoCons, particularly Paul Wolfowitz, Richard Perl et al and the Afghan Fundamentalists claimed responsibility for it. But with Russia gone and the Cold War over they needed a new threat to focus the peoples’ attention and this was the War on Terror. Both sides are peddling snake oil and the respective people are not buying into it. But the power of the imagined future threat gave politicians the real power they sought.

Western politicians embraced something borrowed from The Green Movement called the Precautionary Principle. The Greens believed in the 70’s that global warming was a real threat but at that time there was scant evidence to support it but they believed immediate action was necessary to save the planet. They put forward that governments had a higher duty to the planet to act before the evidence was available. The Precautionary Principle says that not having the evidence that something might be a problem is not a reason for not taking action as if it were a problem. Or, in other words, action without evidence is justified, hence Sadam’s WMD and extraordinary rendition.

The series concludes in this way:
“In a society that believes in nothing, fear becomes the only agenda. Whilst the 20th century was dominated by a free market right and a socialist left and even though both of those outlooks had their limitations and their problems at least they believed in something, whereas what we are seeing now is a society that believes in nothing. And a society that believes in nothing is particularly frightened by people that believe in anything. We therefore label those people as fundamentalists or fanatics and they have much greater purchase in the fear they instill in society than they truly deserve. That is a measure of how much we have become isolated and atomized rather of their inherent strength.

But the fear will not last and just as the dreams that politicians once promised turned out to be illusions, so too will become the nightmares”.

Let us hope.

Two things. Number one son and his lady are to wed on the 14th of July at a small mountain lake in southwestern Montana, so I'll be here for that event.

On the 17 of July, there will be a world-wide coming together of like-minded people who feel the need to focus their healing energies on the earth. The light beings who communicate with people who have had near-death experience indicate this needs to be done pronto, and that 7/17/07, at 11:11 gmt is the time to do it. I want to do some more investigation into this, but I'm thinking that drumming should be included in this effort. A shaman explained to me that the vibrations of the drum or rattle, in shamanic healing, emphasize and magnify the good intent. So, maybe we could build a gathering, somewhere, around this event. It's going to happen. Why not take part? (I still think we can levitate the pentagon, if we all just concentrate!) Know anything about vortexes? I read there is one at Flathead Lake, Mont. and at Pend Oreille, Id.

Belgium;

Thanks for the link. I will check it out, presently.

In the mean time, consider this. The discerning public, in this country, at least, is dividing itself up along lines of who does and who does not believe the official government conspiracy theory, as regards 9/11. Those who believe can justify the war in Iraq, support a troop surge and even cheer a pre-emptive strike against Iran.
I personally believe these folks to represent a minority of people in this country today.

Those who suspect the Bush/Cheney cabal of complicity in 9/11, and of subsequent lies in order to involve us militarily in the Middle East, are no longer buying anything these hideous creatures sell.

Nor do they trust either major political party.

One fucked us. The other stood by and watched!

I think, what the majority now believes,( but is too afraid to exercise its will), is this: We elected the Dems to stop this fucking war and goddammit they better fucking well do something pretty damned quick!

If Cheney doesn't play the Iran card soon, look for more revelations exposing this pack of Republican hyeanas for what they have been and a further errosion of the public trust, including an unstoppable groundswell for impeachment and trials.

War is Their only way out now.

From Belgium,

Rockpicker,

We are not essentially saying different things. You are saying what the situation is now and I am saying how we got to this point. The BBC programs named an Arab associate of Zawahiri as the ideas man behind 9/11 but asserted that Zawahiri himself, claimed responsibility for the planning part at least. The programs did not deal at all with conspiracy versus counter conspiracy theories regarding 9/11 which was rather disappointing, nor with the supposed relationship between Zawahiri and Bin Laden with the American administration but was more concerned with the balance of power between the two groups as a result of the attacks. They took the view that the Muslim Fundamentalists were not taking their public with them no matter how they escalated their own instigated atrocities. Those Muslims who trained at the Afghanistan camps were largely interested in their own regional struggles, for example in Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan etc. Since Fundamentalism did not have the popularity they expected, they needed an attack on the USA directly to unite the Muslim people behind them.
The program takes the view, which I agree with, that whoever perpetrated 9/11, the NeoCons ended up with all the advantages from it so far as their own agenda was concerned. This may not be the situation now and the American public is turning again. With 300m people and no effective political opposition is it any wonder that they are becoming more disaffected than ever, so far that they don’t have any leading light they can believe in so they believe in nothing which was the outcome of the program.

I wanted to bring these programs to everyone’s attention because they give an underlying background to the present situation and because there are omissions (some big ones), that may not make their essential message untrue and we all learn by picking up pieces of the puzzle here and there along the way.

I may be wrong but maybe I see a possible dichotomy here. You say people fall into two camps, those in the minority who believe official 9/11 and those in the majority who don’t but when recalling your recent trip to NY you said most people you asked about the subject had largely put these events behind them and moved on. It is not my meaning to put you on the end of a fishing hook here but how, in your view, do you see Joe Publics view of where this is all leading us?

At 4:37 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Belgium;

I think most people in this country have heard enough and seen enough, (even those with minimal interest in the 9/11 attacks,) to have formulated, and do now carry, suspicions about their government's involvment.

But I also think it's quite clear that most people feel overwhelmed by the day-to-day demands of maintaining their lifestyles, that they just don't have time to care. People told me exactly that on my trip, over and over.

The perps have enjoyed relative impunity for this very reason. And ,they've been adept at using the media to insure the masses sleep soundly.

Trouble is, they weren't counting on the internets, and all the mischief a few subversives are capable of, if allowed to speak.

And people are speaking out. (I presume you've had adequate time to peruse Judy Wood's photo evidence on the janedoe0911.tripod site.) Stuff like that makes people scratch their heads and want to know "how'd that happen?"

The media is coming around, slowly. We can see it here. Daily. NYT prints a piece by a government shill, and the next day the rest of the press is on him like flies on shit. Bush won't get an easy ride this next time. Guaranteed.

Getting back to Joe Public, and an answer to your question, I think, even though the public has been distracted, people still carry the sense they've been had. And deep down, they're pissed.

When the economy really goes sour, many of us will have more time to think and discuss and mull, and those responsible for this charade had better have all the Blackwater help their petrofortunes can afford them.

btw check out this site, and especially Mike Ruppert and Indira Singh. It's fantastic testimony!

You're correct, Rockpicker, in that most people have absolutely no time to find out what's going on around them due to kids, the long hours of work (due to thinking they need a nice huge house, new SUV, new HDTV, etc.), but I don't know..... Almost everyone I know doesn't really give a damn about what's happening to this country. They have this weird sence of confidence in the government and believe the MSM's daily BS. And as long as they're making money, they figure things will work out, the world will continue getting better (because they're being told it is) -epecially couples with young children. Man, they're clue-bags are totally empty. Plus, even if they were to lose their jobs, lose their home and car and start eating dog food, they're brainwashed into thinking that it's they're own fault (-that the company closed-up shop in Podunk, PA to open a factory in Yaboo, India so the execs could make even MORE money!)

It's not like the 60's -young people today are like, only, like thinking about, like, who is, like, going to be the next American Idol, like. I think the dumbing-down of this country after Vietnam was done on purpose by the PTB. It's easier to control stupid people.

The MSM, well, they're talking some shit, but really, they're just as much to blame for all of this mess we're in as Her Bush and Her DICK! The five or so multi-national conglomerates that own the MSM have their fingers into everything (oil, gas, defence, pharma, etc.) and since they're making gobs of money with Bush and DICK creating wars and giving them tax cuts, I doubt if they'll take the gloves off.

Well, they'll be in a state of totally shock when the shit hits the fan -when Der Furer Bush attacks Iran. Like, totally, like.

From Belgium,

The real people who are running the show are quick learners so what they don’t figure out themselves they steal from others and they don’t mind who that happens to be. See in my comment above about the Precautionary Principle which they filched from the Greens. One of the features of cult organizations, such as Scientology, for instance but not necessarily them, is that they keep their people busy – very busy, so that they do not have time to analyze (think – ponder deeply) what the hell it is that they are actually doing. Having been hooked into the culture they want to progress up the ladder and refusing to do good works will not earn them many brownie points. And believe me there is no end of good works to keep them busy. But most of the population is not in the hold of a sub culture so keeping them short of money and getting them to feed the monster of desire is as good an answer as any to keeping them occupied. And apart from anything else, less for the lesser men means more for the heroes.

Dude,
That link to The Docile American essay was great. He nailed it. We are like serfs when our health care and unemployment benefits are all tied to our employers and work. We are taught to be helpless and the government's policies make us powerless, and the schools misinform us regarding our history and class, and our religions lead us into acceptance of authority and compliance. All the while we are told how "free" we are and how great it is here, and how we are "the best" country in the world. My God.
I want to live in the United State of Cascadia! Where people work from their homes and neighborhoods and make a little extra of everything to share with everybody around them. And kids can have a little wine with dinner once in awhile, and have puppet shows that neighbors attend, and people might be nuts, but at least they are honest and kind, everybody dances around the fire and old people are allowed to die gracefully without having their pockets picked down to their last dime beforehand. And, everybody knows that the universe is conspiring to nurture and teach and bring them joy.

9/11 Alert

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3U_GISl3aAA

See this video on You Tube before it is pulled, Google Video have taken it from their system already. This is about how the more or less complete official 9/11 commission report was put into the public’s mindset within one hour of the towers being hit. It asks why, when all bystanders were in shock, were there people on the street who could give technical explanations of what had happened – steel structures being weakened by fire.
Then we have Jerome Hauer within one hour of the first impact, giving his expert opinion that there were ‘not’ additional explosives in the towers but the damage was caused by the velocity of impact and the burning fuel. Then after cramming a lot of technical info into a few sentences and so he can’t be picked up on it, he quickly changes the subject to an emotional one about the rescue workers. It seems Hauer is also an expert on OBL immediately dismissing the idea that the attacks could be state sponsored and saying that OBL could mobilize 3000 men at will. He is extremely wealthy but that he chooses to live in mud huts; tent cities and caves.
How does he get this elaborate story on air so quickly and lay down all the myths within one hour of the attacks. In fact who is Jerome Hauer? Well it turns out that he is a bio – warfare expert; a drug company director and surprisingly a Bush administration insider.

They do not tell us what to do, we do.

i would not blame the instruments of destruction because we are the instruments of destruction and thats that! They are merely the gateway to our obscene definition of what has to be and they provide the legality and make us feel good in the continuance of the evil that runs this planet. no??
Take a look around, i went to the city today and was shocked at what i saw, because i had not been there for quite some time, first thing outside of the insidious traffic was a good gander at the size of the new construction going on. It was awful, the people from Washington state are moving in like rats off a a sinking ship. The cities are growing and the pollution is getting horrible, however so far its only confined to two cities , Missoula and Kalispell, it looks like a giant cancer developing on Mother Earth, the smoke the dust the cars and busses and trucks all spewing all that vomit into this one of the last places of semi purity.

Us old fuckers have winged it for years and know a little something about getting along on Mother Earth without hurting her, and scratching her belly just right so she smiles on us and we smile back, and all things bloom and we grok in fullness.
Peace tribades we allow the spirit to be our guide and we are filled with nourishment, the old ones speak of this.

In Missoula, Montana, where the townsfolk water
the sidewalks, and the Clark Fork River barely interrupts
the usual flow of traffic on Higgins Avenue, I pass, outside a furniture store, the world's largest
captain's chair. In it sits the world's largest captain, native
to Montana, foursquare and friendly,
with a timeless eye trained on the University while the mountain flashes holding heaven in a mist
the rest of us steer clear of.

Still agile at forty-odd, I could shinny up
that walnut leg to lie in the lap of the god,
call him husband or lover, warm as any woman in a clockwork swoon.
Except that some more concentrated
fire balanced the cogs, married gut
to metal. Today's AP wire
ticks off: Nun Burns Self to Death, and in eight-point type
from Saigon, a Buddhist virgin
goes out in sheer fire
while I sputter cold a spark
at a time.

Time hangs golden at my breast,
a decoration in disrepair that may
not run much longer. Still, I am there beside that well-regulated
throne or bed, not altogether dead.
And the captain knows. And I know.
We have it timed to the second.

MF;

How is it we know enough to post
one upon the other?

Last night the wind blew. For two days
my sinuses knew the barometer
would plunge. Snow flew. Non- winter fell, like a skirt in grass.
I watched the other feather- in, in the downglow of streetlamps. It fell,
unannounced as night.
Cold air settled with intermitten sun. Night shook the spruce limbs, and winter was done.

And now we find ourselves walking out in this new light, rubbing eyes, hoping to buy time. Our fraud is lame. The newly-shaved
do not buy our bald-faced
explanations.

Marriage in July, is this not
a coming together we might all
endorse? Then come, all who might
rejoice, to this mountain lake, and make camp and smoke and drum. A union for a union, note and voice?
Our tribe goes on. I offer my embrace.

Rockpicker, it would be one of the most auspicious tremors of my brief passage on Mother Earth to attend the union or your..our sons and daughters hands in oneness,a great drumming and council fire indeed. Might even catch a fish or two, Spirit willing, but i rather think the fisherperson among us is Freeacre and Her main squeeze Murph of whom she keeps around to put the worm on the hook for her.
OK a lake in south west Montana, would that be Mono lake,Miner lakes Reservoir lake,Twin lakes or Van Houten lake? Need to narrow it down some you old dog.

Good find about Oren Lyons, have not heard of him before, have heard of the Peace Maker,.. also known as the Pale One??
The lost information is so sketchy its just amazing that anything is left after the Native American holocaust. what a beautiful man and keeper of the bundle, wish i could meet him, hes 76 now?
Spirit Across the Sea,you asked about the seven generations as a guide in the decision making thoughtfullness of the tribal elders, this article goes on in the same vein as the Cherokees as near as i can garner. When weighing our FUTURE MAYBE.. picture, it is good to consider and consider and maybe wait a few years before coming to a definite act. Because humans on the spur of the moment (lets get er done)mentality have a tendency to really fuck things up.Would you not agree?
Anyone remember the river that caught on fire a few years back? Somewhere back east a tad.? I rest my case. Almost,
Chernobyl? kind of springs to mind, Three mile island? World war one and two and three?
Golly gee, fuck council with the old ones whom have lived here for tens of thousands of years and where you could still drink from the rivers of life before the invasive creatures on wooden boats came and said fuck it,lets kill the rivers and the animals and every godddam thing that walks, swims, flies or squawks, because these things stand directly in the way of our Vendeta, which is to castrate all of life.
And i might add we are very good at what we do.
Now a few good Nucular mother fucking bombs and some E Boli virus squirting from the wings of commercial airliners and dog gone it, pass the marshmallows, this is going to be one hell of a picnic, and ask that kid over there, yes the one with three legs and four arms to find some sticks for the sugar blobs we intend to eat because they are loaded with life filled nourishment stright from the labs of MONSANTO.
Theres a burr under my saddle right now brothers and sisters so pay it no mind, i see goodness and evil as twins and they live inside our heads as dogs and one of native proverbs has it that these two fight each other for supremacy and the child asked, which one will win and the old one replied ,,the one you feed.
In spite of the overwhelming apparentness of looming catastrophic winds there is still one more thing that may be addressed,
i will feed the dog of love, i will groom it, play with it, let it sleep on the couch, its couch, and take it for long walks by the lake of life, lie in the sun and watch the clouds become things that were long ago,and in the evening we will sit beside the camp fire and watch the stars fall to Mother Earth and feel her heartbeat beneath our feet, and we will doze off into the dreams of which we are made. My dream dog of which its name is cat purrs gently against my breast, and we hold the dream promise of a new day in which we will share this beautiful Mother Earth and sing with the children.
i can blither no more.

"i would not blame the instruments of destruction because we are the instruments of destruction and thats that!"

ALL of us need to heed the wisdom in our elder, MF's, words who echoes the words of the wisest of the wise, the late, great Pogo when he said, I have met the enemy and he are I.

But just what does this mean? Perhaps the words of another late, great, wise man may be of help.... when an inner situation is not made conscious, it appears outside as fate... carl jung.

There IS a war outside. And it is manifest in many forms. We see it. We discuss and mostly agree on who and what to blame... all forces "out there". The PTB, the Elites, the neo-cons, the Christians, the Muslims, the NWO, Busco, global warming, peak oil, capitalism, socialism, american idol, lucifer and his minions, the masons, the Chinese, the media, the human condition, and so on.

But the real war is on Consciousness itself. These other things "out there", "outside", are the "noise". The "reflection." Yet, those words, "war on consciousness" can be impotent to drive home the point. So let me put it another way.... THE WAR IS FOR LIFE ITSELF. Yours, mine, the collective. And it is real. It has always been so. BUT, it is coming to a head as never before. The Mother of Everything is seeing to it and the Earth that She IS is moving to clear. She can hold no more of this imbalance and denial.

There is definitly an agenda to take life down. It is a force to recon with and we need to realize this. How and why am I serving this agenda? I need to realize this too and examine this thouroughly and profoundly for therein lay the understandings that the war between good and evil has been a war of each to OVER-POWER the other and thus, even "good" has been fooling itself.

There IS a perfection to the Universe. It could also be called True Understanding and Balance. When there is balance the "things" of the universe are "free" to be in their right places. There is no threat and thus no need for one to over-power another. That which is good. Which is within love and life. That which is evil. Which is outside love and life. All these "things" in their right place for there is a place for them that feels good and right for all in this Universe. And they would be happy there.

When there is imbalance we can find the tools within it to seek and find balance. This is also woven into the fabric of the perfection of the universe.

Is the concept just something for the dreamers who dream still of the original dream? The whole idea smacks of the utopian eh? Yet, this is the lesson. It is this I seek.

From Belgium,

Wise words on the essence of things.

Mf, I am surprised you still remembered that I asked about the seven generations, it was so long ago. The question I asked however, was are the seven generations which are spoken of, seven generations projected into the future or is the wisdom taken from two generations in the past; the present generation and two generations projected into the future. Does anybody know the answer to this or is it another of life’s imponderables?

Belgium,
I think when considering what to do in the present, one considers the hopes and dreams of the three generations past with those of the three generations into the future. Those are the 7 generations as I understand them.
This morning we are having a glorious break of sunshine and blue skies, and I wake to find such eloquence and love and insight on the blog, that I am in awe of my good fortune to have such wondrous brothers and sisters.
I know the "reflection" of which Palooka speaks. The manifested wars and tragedy that are a projection of inner turmoils. I feel the pain in my body every day from unresolved psychic injuries now physically manifest. And, when one sees the burgeoning sprawl and ever increasing everything in spite of all reason, one cannot help but wonder if this is not a false "feeding" of a hunger for the love of Spirit and perfect place in the world that has never been assuaged. It's like a meal of empty calories, the McFood that does not nourish, but only creates more hunger and makes us sick.
In the long run, my curses turn against me, and I am crippled by my own rage and fear. The only medicine I can see to heal me is the concept of a mighty forgiveness. Not a whimpy "oh, it's alright," type of forgiveness, but a kick out the jams, bring down the walls of Jericho monstrous FORGIVENESS that blows the beast of hatred right out of the water!
I FORGIVE YOU ROTTEN MOTHERFUCKERS! I FORGIVE YOU AND YOUR HATEFUL FATHERS AND CHILDREN AND ALL THAT YOU HAVE DONE. I release you to become better than you have ever been. I release myself from the poisonous rage that has turned against me. I free us all to be all the best of what we are. On this wondrous bright and sunny day, I accept the love and beauty and healing that is the truth of world around me.

From Belgium,

Thanks for that Freeacre, I guess if it proves anything it’s that I am not much good at arithmetic.

We too have had beautiful sunny mornings since last Thursday but by early afternoon the sky was so full of chemtrails it was completely occluded over. There has been some activity every day since but on Thursday they kept going until about 1900 when it was already dark. At its height there must have been 15 – 20 planes in the sky at any one time. Who has the kind of money to pay for all of this?

So much for letting the light of love shine on the people.

Inside every person on this planet ythe war rages. It is not the war on the outside, but the war on the inside. on the very soul of mankind that we fight now.

We are only what we are, and good and bad lives in each of us. To say "We shall never kill!" is to give voice to a pathetic lie! We are born killers! Each and every one of us! No less thatn the fox, wolf, and cougar! WE ar predators by our very nature! To deny is to deny ourselves!

Yet we can say "Today I shall not kill! I have killed in the past, and will kill in the future! But TODAY I shall not kill!" Then we are making our way to the future, one step at a time! Then, and only then, can we find peace! Peace is a wonderful thing. Wonderful things ar e never easy!

That works for me.

Three generations, for a sense of history and tradition.

Three more, symbolizing hope and responsibility.

And one, of course, to experiment, make mistakes in, and, hopefully, grow through knowledge.

What do you suppose is behind the recent attacks by "the left" press on the 9/11 truth movement? They seem to be spinning their wheels.

rp,

Yes, he is a lonely man right now. Especially since Britain is about to announce the withdrawal of nearly half of their troops from Iraq, while we are sending 20,000+ more. What's startling is that they are our MAJOR coalition partner, and are removing 3000 troops out of about 7000. That's called a coalition? When your next highest number is 7000? Like I've said all along, calling this a coalition is nothing short of fraud.

As for the 9/11 deal, all I can say is to look at the Kennedy assassination. We are arguing about it to this day, 33 years later. It will be the same with 9/11, it will not be settled anytime soon, and more likely never. I know that I won't live long enough to learn the truth, so I don't spend much time on it. That is for the young people to deal with.
