Boosh Pulls the Pin on the Grenade

Now the "nucular" fun begins. Boosh has finally bitten off more than he can chew. The implications of the move by the UN Nuclear Watchdog to report Iran to the Security Council are staggering, on a number of fronts. This is BIG, this is STUPID, and this is UGLY.

First, Iran immediately said that the proposal to allow Russia to enrich the Iranian uranium was dead. Not gonna happen, thank you very much. They are more than capable of taking care of that little task themselves.

Second, China and Russia signed on only with the agreement that nothing happen before March. Why is that significant? March just happens to be the month in which Iran has threatened to tell the US to take their dollar and shove it, and start dealing their oil in Euro's. Do China and Russia know something that Booshco doesn't? My guess is yes, our economy may not make it to the '06 elections, after all.

Boosh, in his usual arrogant way, with Rummy by his side, stated that "This is a clear message that the world will not allow Iran to gain 'nucular' arms." The question becomes, just what's a Boosh to do about it? Let's first look at what he has already done.

Aside from killing the Russian enrichment deal, Boosh just ran the bus over Israel. I have been very hesitant to comment on this in the past, but now I don't think I have a choice, so I'm going to say it. Israel is no friend of ours. They found out today that we are no friend of theirs, either. Part of this deal includes the creation of a "nuclear free Middle East." And guess who gets tossed in the middle of that mix? None other than Israel.

I have known for some time, as has the US government, that Israel has been playing on both sides of the fence. It has simply been a matter of which way the wind was blowing as to whose bed they were really in. That is not a criticism of them, in fact it was a smart move on their part. Never put your eggs in one basket, especially when the bigger basket is led by a madman named Boosh. While questions were always in the back of our minds, it wasn't until the beginning of the second Clinton term that serious doubts began to creep in about Israel. For obvious reasons, nothing has ever been made public about it. I'll probably be skewered for doing so now. Sorry, it's just too damned important. And believe me, I'm not slamming Israel. Were it me leading their country, I would probably have cut the USA cord long before now. But those doubts were real, and they will prove to be correct. And Boosh may well have just broken the dam on civilization.

If anyone believes for one second that Israel is going to give up their nuclear capabilities to stop Iran from "maybe" having nuclear weapons some 5-10 years from now, they are on crack, George Boosh included. It just ain't going to happen. They are surrounded by enemies, all wishing that they would disappear from the face of the earth, and their Big Brother, the Great Protecter, the Grand old USA, just dropped a bucket of manure on their heads. I don't know, maybe God told Boosh to make this absolute asinine move. Or Cheney. It certainly was not someone of this world.

Now to what he can't do. Many people have written and asked me what I thought the chances of our invading Iran were. I said pretty much nil, but if anyone did it would probably be Israel. The only way that we, the US, could invade Iran would be to completely pull out of Iraq. Virtually every fighter that we have is currently engaged in Iraq or Afghanistan; we simply don't have the manpower to handle an Iranian invasion. Plus, Iran is considerably larger than Iraq, and our "on the ground intelligence" is virtually non-existant in Iran. So, we either cut out of Iraq and leave the civil war to them, or we stay out of Iran. Can't handle both. Now that Israel knows for certain that we have hung them out to dry, they no longer have any incentive to hold back. So, hang on to your hats, folks, WWIII may soon be upon us. Should Israel decide to start firing missles into Iran, it won't be long before they hit the nuke button. And should they do that, all bets are off. In fact, it's over. The entire Middle East will go up in one, large mushroom cloud. Especially if it is after March, should we be brought to our economic knees. Now that Sharon is out of the picture, if someone like Netanyahu gains control of Israel, that will likely be the first move they make after knocking off Hamas.

Israel is a lot tougher than we are. I recall watching during the first Gulf War, an American reporter standing with Netanyahu when the air raid sirens went off. The reporter, like I probably would, freaked out and started jumping around trying to get a gas mask on his face. Netanyahu calmly said," It's okay. We've got time, settle down." You see, the Israeli's are used to being fired at. And having loved one's blown up in restaurants on a semi-regular basis. And, remove the leash that the US has had around their necks, under the guise of protecting them for so long, and we will learn just how tough they are. They know how to fight fire with fire. Now that we have cut a deal that demands that they give up their nuclear arsenal, we will find out just how the Israeli's have been living all these years. And just how tough they can be.

My God, Boosh, what have you done now? You truly are mad.

technofreak,

What's the term? Serious as a heart attack? The jackass may have just obliterated half, if not all of the world, because a desparate fool will do desparate things when backed into the corner. Boosh is like a caged animal, and just screwed with the wrong crowd. Iran hasn't been so bold of their own volition, or for no reason, they well know that we can't do a damn thing about it. I think I mentioned that in an earlier post. I hope I'm 100% wrong. I did not foresee China and Russia folding so quickly. The only logical reason is that they recognize just how vulnerable we are. God help us all,

Good call Cyclone, I am also hoping that you are within the possibility of being wrong on this one.

If one looks deep enough the war in Iraq was not about WMD, or the potential to do serious biological or nuclear harm to the USA. The harm they were to inflict was to trade oil to the countries who would buy it in Euros.

Imagine if you will the Iraqis selling their oil in Euros, bypassing the associated fees that come along with the priviledge of using the US dollar as the trading currency. Then imagine the neighbors to the Iraqis seeing that they are making more money per barrel for using the Euro selling to the same clients they do. They would soon follow suit. Bush could not let this happen and the American public has paid dearly for this show of control. American lives lost, military and yes 911 is included as I firmly believe that the knowledge of oil being trade in Euros was not an overnight piece of info, and from that the Bush government needed some reason to kick their military machine into gear.

Bush is caught between a rock and a real hard place. His poilicies have made it nearly impossible for him not to do something to try and get the oil bourse cat back in the bag. This is where the fun begins. He does nothing to stop the Iranian bourse and the money generated y trading oil in greenbacks stops flowing because of the trade in Euros. Could signal a real downturn to those countries that have a vested interest with holding US Treasury bills especially since the US has eclipsed it debt ceiling and will fast approach the next ceiling.

This may and in all probability would cause economic chaos as the possibility of one country pulling out its investment so too will others.

If Bush decides, and this is looking more likely, that Iran via Isreal will have to be stopped we can look toward WW3. Yes it will be military, yes it will be very ugly. The USA has limited manpower to fight any additional conflict, it has a huge deficit that keeps growing because of the present conflicts already spiraling out of control. So does Bush ask the taxpayer to pony up with more tax dollars to fight another war??? Good question especially since most taxpayers are seeing less and less money jingling in their pockets already.

Then there is Russia and China who have already taken the position that they are not going to let their vested interests in Iran be compromised by an attack by Isreal aka USA, and either of those two opponents the US can not mess with let alone both.

I have to say that there has been a lot of things gone wrong with many governments for past few decades that is leading the US to the position they are in. That said it is the Bush government and its supreme arrogance who will take the country to the breaking point and I believe collapse it.

Scary times ahead... at least in my view

Right now, if my numbers are correct, we have approx. 2 million military personal in uniform, scattered all over the world. If someone has better figures, let me know. Sounds like a lot until you figure a large percentage are guarding boarders and/or providing logistics. Taking on a determined and well equiped military coalition ain't going to work. That 2 million isn't enough at that point, especially when so far from the home depots.

I rather suspect that my long term fear is going to come to pass. Namely that we have thrown our weight around for so long, generated so much distrust and anger, that any kind of military move against Iran will result in a coalition agains the U.S. We may have finally come to the point that we get our asses soundly kicked or we have to capitulate and admit our inability to control things any longer.

Button down, lock and load. It could get very ugly.

We seem to have forgotten just what a nasty piece of work Isreal can be Remember when two divisions of Ireali soldiers captured THE ENTIRE EGYPTIAN ARMY?!! Talk about Rambo shit! They've got "Entafada" (or however the hell you spell it) and these people are MASTERS of insurgent and counterinsurgent style warfare. Special Operations Comand had several retired Entafada agents as tactical instructors when I was in the SEALS! These guys scared me and I'm a fearless man! They're masters of assasinations and other "black" ops. Once they are given an objective they will cary it out! No matter what! They make the SEALS and Marine Recons look like a bunch of Boy Scouts! They don't know the word retreat! If they are given the orde3r to retreat by their comanding officer they have standing orders to ASSASINATE that officer and continue with the objective! And Bush has pissed them off?!! OH FUCK!!!!!!

Stoney,

You know, even though I enjoyed watching the super bowl, I really agree with your statement. We have some really displaced values in our society. This of course also applies to about any of the big draw sports. Sorta the bread and circusus of the Roman period. Good way to keep peoples attention off of really more important issues.

While I spent my military time not in any elite unite, what you talk about here matches what I have read about and what other people have told me that supposedly would know. This really does look like another cluster fuck that the Bushites have come up with.

Over here in Belgium they know a thing or two about beer, a country the size of Wales with over three hundred breweries. Of all of them the strongest and loopiest is a brand called Bush which comes in two varieties 8% and 12%. With all of that active yeast in the bottle it looks as if it has just been dredged out of the river. Apt or what?

Rockpicker,

I have only known a few people in my life that actually wanted to die and they managed it. But, what you want to do, live forever? Maybe the Cheyenne warrior's outlook will have some value to you, it does for me. Every morning you pray, "It is a beautiful day to die".

About this thing with China and the bourse and Iran and all. Seems to be a whole gamut of opinions by commentary and from experts and non experts about what will or will not happen. Who knows what China thinks or what deal has been made. Maybe China will not interfer with an invasion to stop the bourse on certain guarantees from Bush crew. Take your pick. Which sound like the most likely to you? When it comes down to the line in the sand, where are you going to stand? What are you willing to do with gusto?

You can bet there will be a large segment of the population that will go with the philosophy expounded in the 70's "Better red than dead". ie. better to stay alive than die fighting. They will go along with whatever the government wants to do. So, where you at? Keep in mind the American revolution was nowhere near unanimous, lots of collaborators. Anyway, it sure is going to be interesting what new form of insanity these people are dreaming up.

I have made two rather fatuous comments on your site up to now and am at something of a small difficulty here. Originally I thought blogging was an adolescent studenty thing – got that one wrong. I found you through a comment on AlterNet. I don’t have the inside track to do what you do and keep a site running and up to date but I don’t really want to hide behind anonymity either. If I pick a handle and join in from time to time is that the category of ‘Other’? Perhaps a more meaningful category title would be helpful.

Actually I am an English guy keeping out of phoney Tony’s way. Married a Belgian lass and it makes sense to live in one of the two countries.

Hope you are feeling much improved.

Sanctions will never happen, in any meaningful form. Oh, they might try, but they can do no good. Iran has billions upon billions of dollars and can outlast any sanctions that we (the UN) might pose. Plus, when push comes to shove, China nor Russia will allow it. They need the Iranian oil, and they will get it. They just want us on our military knees first, (which we are already on) and then they'll pounce. Life as we have always known it is over.

I just read your request for information.

The run down on China is that they pretty much have the USA by the short and curlies.

The bare facts are that the USA has been for some time now borrowing money from a variety of countries and using vast tracts of the American landscape as collateral.

The Chinese as well as a few others have been making moves to move their US currency. While some of it has been going toward Euros I believe a vast amount has been allocated to gold reserves of which inthe event of an economic collapse will become the the overall standard for the world.

Perhaps the biggest reason for Chinese interest in Iran is a future supply of oil. The Chinese need oil to keep their huge economic engine running. Iran is a future supply of that oil but that would become jeopardised if Iran falls to an American influence or is tied up for decades in a conflict.

http://atimes.com/atimes/China/GL21Ad01.html

I am not sure how to post a link here so I hope that last link works for you. It is a major piece of the larger puzzle.

To go with that is that the US govt have started a pissing match over the Aisian and future Mid East oil reserves with their denial of the Chinese to purchase Unocal. The reaction was swift as the Chinese proceeded to buy Petro Kazahkistan, further to that they have built and overland delivery route for oil.

Another interesting piece is the Chinese have been shopping the world for oil, places such as the Oil sands project in Canada and have made close ties with Venezuela.

While I agree that the Chinese have bought huge amounts of treasury bills I am also thinking it is not so much what the Chinese say it is what they do not say. They have openly critizied the Bush govt over their fiscal resposibilities, and they are also open about their concern about the decline in the US dollar, but what I wonder is whether or not they are saying this because they have already made the moves to secure a position in the event of its demise. From my perspective they probably have, they are fighting the economic war while Bush is wrangling in Iraq and Afghanistan.

There is more that indicates the Chinese are strong supporters of Iran, but the basis is and always has been oil.

and no my name is not Mike...lol

It would make sense that China has prepared for the dollar declining. Because a "normal" government would have some long term planning and not be in such denial and so full of lies not to see what is going to happen. Bush thinks he can just keep attacking countries and that will solve the problem.

China is heavily stratigizing to have oil in the future and making friends around the world while Bush just is pissing on the rest of the world. Now that he has Venezuela angry, I'm wondering what he has up his sleeve to piss off Mexico and Canada.

Also at the IAEA website http://www.iaea.org/NewsCenter/Focus/IaeaIran/index.shtml

If drinking the stuff made you as stupid as GWB, I can't think there would be much of a market for it in an enlightened country like Belgium!

Do you remember PLUTO (Pipe Line Under The Ocean); it is filled with Bush beer, not a lot of people know that. Ironic choice of name though. Kinda interesting to see how it sorts out the “So you think you have got something to tell us about drinking” head bangers ;-)
I haven’t worked my way through all 300+ brands but I tend to settle on a light coloured (blond) Trappist 6%. The trick is to pace yourself and mix it with conversation.

Interesting to see how the world chess game is playing out; printed the China pipeline article from the Asia Times but haven’t finished reading it yet; a friend needed to use my computer tonight. Good insighted comment from ely though. Since prudent fiscal policy doesn’t seem to be a consideration, I wonder if, when the big crunch comes Shrub will just go broke or go cap in hand to the IMF and WB and sit in line behind the rest of Africa. Much of South America is getting itself out from under and turning its back on Uncle Sam. The Venezuela China friendship is significant. Argentina has gone from hyper inflation to paying off its debts – keep watching Bolivia with interest, there are certain parallels with Hamas. A popular democratic vote that has not gone Bubba’s way; Palestine has got Israel and Bolivia has GOP. Sorry it is happening to you guys though, you deserve better.

& Cyclone – I didn’t know the ones working Shrub’s strings were in England but it doesn’t surprise me. The whole thing is a jumble of John le Carre and Alice in Wonderland.
