Polls and Boosh's Brain

I could not help but notice, that in the new CBS Presidential Approval Rating Poll, President Boosh has reached a new low, an overall approval rating of 35%. What is interesting about this is that the percentage of Republicans that APPROVE of the Boosh performance is lower than the percentage of Democrats who DISAPPROVE. And, the number of moderates and independents is rapidly spiraling downward, to as much as 65% Disapproval. Hardly good news for a President who received a self announced "mandate" merely one year ago. Which brings me to the real topic, Karl Rove.

I know that progressives and liberals have seemed disturbed by the lack of an indictment for the one fondly called "Boosh's Brain." It is needless worry, for a couple of reasons. First, an indictment will come. It is only a matter of time. The moment that Rove stops producing for Patrick Fitzgerald, the moment the indictment falls. What exactly is Rove doing for Mr. Fitzgerald? The simple answer is, whatever Mr. Fitzgerald asks him to do. Rove is very aware that one slight misstep, including providing the prosecutor with any false information, will cause the hammer to land squarely upon his head. Let's even assume that Rove cooperates with Mr. Fitzgerald to the best of his ability. When he has no more useful information, guess what? He gets indicted anyway. Just the way it works when a man builds a career upon destroying honest people for a living, as Rove has done. A hazard of the job, if you will. More important, though, is the second reason.

Karl Rove has one job and one job only in his service to Boosh. Rove's job is not to make policy, although some seem to think it is. No, Rove's sole duty to the President is to make him look good. The Spin Doctor. Whatever the situation, make Boosh look as good as he can possibly be made to look. The absolute no-no in politics, for a person who's job is to keep another out of trouble, is to himself get in trouble. When the dogs are nipping at your own heels, it's difficult to keep them away from the one you are paid to protect. That is the situation that Rove has placed himself in, by lying and smashing everything in his putrid path. Rove has become a failure at his job, which the above poll numbers indicate.

Fortunately, for all progressive's sake, Boosh has not the brain power to recognize this. Just another bungled operation by an incompetent president who stole a couple of elections, and who has bungled virtually everything he has touched since. Look to the Libby indictment as a guide. Everyone in the White House knew a minimum of one week before that Scooter Libby was going to be indicted. They also believed that Karl Rove would be indicted. They were simply hoping that the damage would be limited to those two individuals, after speculation in the press that there could be over 20 indictments issued, at least during round one. Yet the President, in his infinite wisdom, did not have the foresight to relieve either Libby or Rove of their duties prior to the indictments arriving at the doorstep of the White House. What followed was the indictement of the highest sitting cabinet level official in about 100 years. The White House response? Accept Libby's resignation after the fact and nearly throwing a party after learning that "the brain" didn't go down as well. And Boosh still doesn't get that a Rove indictment is a near certainty. Mr. Fitzgerald did not rent bigger and better office space in Washington in order to have more room to pack up and leave.

Now, the stench of the rotting Karl Rove arrives at the White House each morning. Rove has become the liability that even the most ardent conservatives are now suggesting should be put out to pasture. Fellow White House staffers are questioning the wisdom of keeping Rove around. They feel he has likely outlived his usefulness, and frankly don't want to be associated with him anymore. Do you blame them? All he has done, since the seas have gotten rough, is to run the bus over Scooter Libby by saying that he first heard of Valerie Plame from him. Not to mention, much earlier, sending Scott McLellan to slaughter in front of the press corps, after assuring him that he had nothing to do with talking to reporters about Ms. Plame. The White House staff can't help but wonder who he will turn his sword to next, and that concern is absolutely warranted. After all, destruction is what he does best.

No, for those of us interested in saving America, Karl Rove is exactly where we want him. At least until he is indicted or the house of cards falls completely, whichever comes first. We want him helping the President with his public image, infecting other members of the White House with the communicable disease that he carries, and keeping those Approval Ratings right where they belong.

mf-roe,
There are differing camps on the differences in White Phosohorus and Napalm. I don't have time to sort out what really is the case, so I chose one and went with it. The important thing is that we went to war to fight the use of WMD and are clearly using them ourselves. The technical differences may be there, but the results are the same. Unacceptable carnage produced by our military. I do appreciate your pointing out the link, but for all that state that view you can find others that don't. I will try to do a more careful job of not making blanket statements re: technical matters. Thanks,
Cyclone
